Alzheimer’s, Brain Health, and the Power of Early Action

Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month | By Darren Grubb, Medicare Advantage Majority spokesperson

Alzheimer’s disease touches the lives of millions of families across the country. More than 7.2 million older adults live with the disease today, and that number is expected to nearly double by 2050, according to the Alzheimer’s Association. During Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, we are reminded how important early action, consistent support, and community-centered care are in helping people live with dignity.

That is where Medicare Advantage makes a real difference. These plans offer more than just medical coverage – they connect people to services that help them live fully. From early memory screenings to in-home support, transportation, and caregiver resources, Medicare Advantage helps families get the kind of wraparound care that feels personal, practical, and proactive. For people living with Alzheimer’s, that support can mean the ability to stay in their home longer. For caregivers, it can mean having a reliable partner to share the load. Many Medicare Advantage plans include benefits that traditional Medicare does not, such as meal delivery, home health aides, or even respite care. Living with Alzheimer’s requires more than just clinical treatment. It requires whole-person support.

Alzheimer’s is a complex disease but navigating it should not feel impossible. Medicare Advantage helps streamline care, coordinate providers, and reduce the stress of juggling disconnected services. It brings peace of mind to moments that can feel uncertain. And it shows what is possible when care is centered on people, not paperwork.

This month, as we honor the strength of those living with Alzheimer’s and the love of those who care for them, let us also recognize the importance of health plans that show up for families. Medicare Advantage is doing just that, delivering care that keeps people connected, supported, and seen.

Because when it comes to Alzheimer’s, we all deserve better answers and better options. Medicare Advantage is one of them.
